Hogwarts: A Second Generation
Book 3: Protection
Prologue
Cold winter winds carried white snow adrift as dawn approached. Two months had passed since the New Four had heard Andromeda's Prophecy. They had returned to the Potter household with Andromeda's body and a message for the world. Andromeda, as she lay dying, told of the destruction that Dark Magic would wreak upon the world. She told of the Dark Warlock, rising from the murky depths of relative obscurity to destroy everything that users of the light held dear. She bid the Four to keep Hogwarts safe as it would be the last bastion for survivors. Initially, Harry had not believed Andromeda, saying it was all ravings of a lunatic. But Ginny, who always loved her granddaughter brought him around. Procedures were taken to move important Muggles underground and important wizards to Hogwarts. Once defensive measures were in place, they hunkered down for the attack.
The end of days dawned cold and clear. The New Four watched from the horizon as hundreds of Dark Warlock members and millions of there summoned necromantic army swarmed. They razed entire cities, killed families, and slaughtered children in their beds. One of the first cities to fall was New York as the Dark Warlock slammed the Empire State to the ground. Before the day ended, Tokyo, Rome, Athens, Los Angeles, and London had been completely torn apart. Millions died in the onslaught. Brave witches and wizards attempted to fight the roving horde but were quickly swallowed by the Dark Warlock's undead troops. Muggle armies with conventional and new energy weaponry were also quickly defeated. After three days of killing, the Dark Warlock proclaimed themselves rulers of the new world. The Muggle survivors were forced into work camps or magically mutated into monstrous beasts of burden. The magic survivors were forced to join the Dark Warlock, most of them under the Imperius Curse. The millions of dead had their bodies reanimated and magically shaped to join the Dark Warlock's already massive ground force. A black castle, almost larger than Hogwarts was erected where Buckingham Palace had once stood. From its minarets flew flags bearing the Dark Mark.
The Potter, Malfoy and several other prominent wizarding families were brought into hiding in houses near Hogwarts. They were protected under the Fidelius Charm. Shortly before the attack, the New Four cavassed the support of the ethereal Four. Descending from their skyward residence, the original Four surrounded Hogwarts in a massive dome of protective magical energy. While the world around them shook and cracked with the Dark Warlock's destructive force, Hogwarts was completely immune to damage. Any Half-Dead were instantly vaporized upon contact with the magical shield and Dark Warlock members found it impossible to penetrate it. The Dark Queen herself could not get to Hogwarts and was forced to retreat to London.
